Goldman Sachs CEO Calls for Ease of Border Restrictions in Hong Kong and China

At the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, Goldman Sachs CEO David Soloman said strict border controls in Mainland China and Hong Kong are creating staffing challenges. “Being restricted in terms of leaving or coming back, the family pressure, etc., that’s not a great dynamic for talent,” Soloman said. “That’s certainly a headwind for global talent in that part of the world, right at this moment.” In addition, the expatriate business community has been calling on authorities to ease restrictions, and some in Hong Kong are even looking at plans to relocate to other cities with looser international travel policies.
