COVID-19 Operational & Supplier Updates

COVID-19 Operational & Supplier Updates

The effects of the pandemic on global mobility service is ever-changing. As noted previously, our Supplier Management Team is actively working with our supplier partners to ensure continuity of services, safety of all parties, and transparency of information. Our team is continually compiling data related to all services in each country to ensure that our Consultants have the most current information available to provide the necessary support and assistance to families that you have entrusted to our care. Below is current information:

Household Goods Providers
By and large, household goods suppliers (U.S. domestic and global) are continuing to work, however, there are restrictions with travel bans in place. For example, inbound shipments may be quarantined until the transferee has gone through a 14-day quarantine after they arrive in the country. There are signs of labor shortages with moving crews making decisions to decline work for their own personal safety.

Moving Services will be suspended temporarily in the following locations: New York, UK, Algeria, Brazil, Brunei, Columbia, France, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, S. Africa, Sri Lanka, UK, Venezuela, and Yemen.

Shipments destined to these locations will be forwarded as soon as these restrictions are lifted. Again, this is a very fluid situation that will fluctuate as the virus hits its peak and begins to subside (as it seems to be doing in China). We will notify transferees that may be impacted. In most cases, if the employee isn’t already in-country, travel bans will prohibit them from entering the country in the near term.

While physically moving belongings has become more challenging, other services will continue to be provided virtually or with modifications, as noted below.

Destination Services
Destination Services, Language, Cultural Training, and Spousal Support providers are delivering services by phone, email, and video, including virtual rental tours in many locations.

Temporary Lodging
Temporary lodging operations varies significantly from country-to-country and within given locations in particular countries.

Alternative methods of key pick-up are being arranged, i.e. via 24-hour securities onsite. Public areas such as gyms and pools are currently out of use until further notice. Temporary lodging providers have suspended housekeeping services until further notice in many facilities, while still trying to provide guests clean linens when possible. Some properties have instituted a “No Visitor” policy.

Some locations are not allowing any new bookings; while others are restricting new bookings to guests that have been in-country for a specific period of time and/or guests who have not visited any of the high-risk countries within the last 30 days.

Travel Bans and Quarantine
Globally, in highly effected areas, such as India, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany, travel bans are prohibiting transferees from entering a country. If allowed, many are required to go through a health check and may be required to quarantine within the apartment or at a government facility before gaining access to their housing or temporary living facility.

This information is accurate as of the date of this writing; however, the situation is changing with very little notice. NuCompass will continue to closely monitor service delivery with our global service partners. We will take all actions as necessary to assist our clients and their relocating employees.
