Are We Headed for a Recession or Already Going Through One?

With post-pandemic after-effects plus an ongoing war, the world has seen one of the highest global inflations of all time. The U.S. is experiencing soaring prices for oil, household goods, monthly bills, and more. According to a recent poll by Morning Consult/Politico, over 60% of American voters feel the country is in the middle of a recession, while others think we haven't entered one yet. Another survey by the Boston Consulting Group showed that nearly 80% of investors anticipate a U.S. recession to start in the following couple of months. As Hady Farag, associate director at Boston Consulting Group, explained, “People are preparing themselves for the fact that we are already in a recession now or that there is a high likelihood we will soon be in one.” Either way, it is crucial to understand that not all recessions are the same and that there is no indication that this one will be as bad or worse than the early 1980s or 2008.
